About our Cardiff locksmith service.
What Cardiff customers say.
4.9 stars from verified Google reviews in Cardiff.
“Locked out of my flat in the Bay just before midnight, which was a great way to end the day. The engineer was there in about 25 minutes. He opened the door without any damage and stuck around while I checked nothing inside was off. Price was what they quoted on the phone.”
“Our front door gearbox finally went. It's a 1990s upvc door so it had a good run. Called in the morning, engineer came in the afternoon, replaced the mechanism. He also showed me where to oil it next time before it seizes up. Useful.”
“We moved into a Roath terrace and our home insurance wanted BS3621 locks fitted. Engineer came round, looked at both doors, fitted what was needed and emailed me a certificate the same night so I could send it on. Took less than two hours start to finish.”

Locksmith Cardiff: what to expect
Cardiff is the capital of Wales, with about 372,000 people living across the CF postcode. The housing here is all over the place. You've got Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Cathays, Roath and Canton, then big detached houses out in Cyncoed and Penylan. Post-war and 1990s estates fill out Llanrumney, Pentwyn and Pontprennau. Down at the Bay, it's mostly modern apartment blocks that went up after the 1990s regeneration.
The way Cardiff is built tells you something about who lived there and when. Roath and Cathays went up quickly for dock and rail workers. Pontcanna and Canton came later, aimed at the Edwardian middle class. Then the 1960s and 70s brought big council estates at Ely and Llanrumney. The Bay redevelopment from 1995 onwards is the new thing. Before that, Cardiff didn't really do high-density apartments by the water.
Cathays and Roath are student-heavy, so the pattern there is predictable. Lockouts go up in late September when term starts and again in May during move-out. The rest of the time, most of our Cardiff work is multipoint gearbox replacements on 1990s upvc doors. Penylan throws up a lot of those. The Bay apartment blocks are different again. There it's mostly fob programming and communal door work. BS3621 lock upgrades come in waves whenever home insurance providers tighten their requirements, which has happened twice in the last few years.
If you’re locked out in Cardiff right now, call us on the number at the top of this page. We’ll take your postcode, give you an honest ETA, and confirm the price before we send anyone out. No call-out fees on top of job fees — what you’re quoted is what you pay.
Common questions from Cardiff customers
Do you cover the whole Cardiff area?
Yes. We cover CF postcodes and the surrounding areas including Cardiff, Penarth, Caerphilly, Newport, Barry, Llantwit Major, Pontypridd. If you’re on the outskirts, call first and we’ll confirm the current ETA from the nearest engineer.
What locks do you recommend in Cardiff?
It depends on the property. For older stock we usually suggest a modern BS3621 mortice combined with an anti-snap cylinder. This combination meets insurance requirements and stops the most common forced-entry methods. We’ll always look at what you currently have and tell you whether it’s worth keeping or replacing.
We’re a small operation, not a national call centre. When you call, you reach someone who knows Cardiff, knows the common lock types here and can give you an honest answer about what the job involves. DBS-checked engineers, no call-out fee, clear pricing before we start.
What it costs. Before we start.
No call-out fees. No surprise charges. The number we quote is the number you pay.
