Stiff, snapped or faulty lock? Repaired, not replaced.
Most locks can be fixed for less than the cost of a new one. We diagnose first, quote second, and only replace when repair isn't safe.

When a lock needs repairing rather than replacing.
Not every lock problem means a new lock. A stiff key turn, a mechanism that occasionally jams, a handle that’s dropped slightly — these are often repair jobs, not replacements. The difference matters because a repair costs less and takes less time.
The most common repair jobs we do: stiff or seized cylinders (usually fixable with the right lubricant and adjustment), worn lever lifter mechanisms in mortice locks (often repairable if the damage isn’t too far gone), and snapped-off keys in the barrel (extractable without replacing the whole cylinder in most cases). UPVC multipoint systems are a different story — when a gearbox fails, it usually needs replacing rather than repairing, but we’ll assess it on site before recommending anything.
Some things we can’t fix: a cylinder that’s been drilled, a mortice case that’s cracked, a UPVC door with stripped threads around the lock pocket. In those situations we’ll tell you straight, explain why a repair won’t hold, and give you the cost of a replacement.
The usual call is: try the repair first, and if it doesn’t hold, the cost of the repair gets subtracted from the replacement. You’re not paying twice.
Why customers choose us
- ✓Repair first, replace only if needed
We don’t recommend a new lock if the existing one can be fixed. Most of the time, it can.
- ✓No double-billing
If a repair doesn’t hold and we move to replacement, the repair cost is credited against the new lock price.
- ✓Fast diagnosis
We can usually tell within 10 minutes whether a repair is viable or whether replacement is the right call.
- ✓Parts in the van
If repair isn’t possible, we carry replacement cylinders and mortice locks so the job can be completed same visit.
- ✓12-month warranty on all work
On any repair or replacement part. If the same fault comes back within a year, we return at no charge.
