Common questions answered.
Can’t find what you’re looking for? Call us on 0330 341 4041 — we answer 24/7.
Is there a call-out fee?
No. We never charge a call-out fee. If we attend and you decide not to proceed after receiving a quote, there is nothing to pay. The price quoted is the price paid — no hidden charges at the door.
How quickly can you get to me?
For emergencies in our core service areas we aim to arrive within 20 minutes. Response times depend on your exact location and our engineers’ current positions. We’ll give you an honest ETA when you call.
What areas do you cover?
We currently operate across Bristol (BS postcodes), Bath (BA postcodes), Preston (PR postcodes), and Llandudno (LL postcodes). See our full coverage page for a complete list of areas.
How much does an emergency lockout cost?
Emergency lockout prices start from £59 during standard hours (8am–8pm) and from £89 overnight (8pm–8am). The exact price depends on the lock type and difficulty. We always confirm the price before we start work. See our full pricing page.
Can you open a lock without damaging it?
In most cases yes. Our engineers use non-destructive entry techniques wherever possible — picking, decoding, and manipulation. If the lock cannot be opened non-destructively, we’ll tell you before we drill.
What types of locks do you work with?
We work with all common residential and commercial locks including Yale/nightlatch, British Standard 5-lever deadlocks (BS3621), uPVC multipoint locks, anti-snap cylinders (TS007 3-star), sash locks, and garage locks. We also open safes and commercial access control systems.
What does a lock change cost?
Lock change prices start from £75 including parts. British Standard BS3621 deadlock upgrades start from £89 including a quality lock. Anti-snap cylinder upgrades start from £65. See pricing for a full breakdown.
Are your engineers DBS checked?
Yes. All engineers are DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) enhanced checked and police vetted under the Police Act 1997. We renew checks annually. You can ask to see credentials when our engineer arrives.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry £2 million public liability insurance. Full details are available on request.
What warranty do you offer?
All labour carries a 12-month warranty. If a lock we’ve installed develops a fault due to our workmanship within 12 months, we’ll return and fix it at no charge. Free re-adjustment is available within 14 days of installation.
What locks does my home insurance require?
Most UK home insurers require at minimum a BS3621 5-lever mortice deadlock on external doors, or a TS007 3-star rated cylinder on uPVC/composite doors. We only fit locks that meet or exceed these requirements. If you’re unsure, we’ll check your policy requirements when we quote.
My uPVC door won’t lock — what’s wrong?
The most common causes are a failed or worn multipoint gearbox mechanism, misaligned door hinges causing the door to drop, or a worn cylinder. Our uPVC door lock repair service covers all of these. We carry common parts in our vans so most repairs are completed on the same visit.
Can you help a tenant locked out of a rental property?
Yes. We can open the property and, if required, fit a temporary lock while you contact your landlord. We’ll ask you to confirm your tenancy before starting work (a tenancy agreement, utility bill, or similar). See our landlord locksmith page for more information.
Do you work on commercial properties?
Yes. We provide commercial locksmith services including access control, master key systems, high-security lock installation, and emergency commercial lockout. See our commercial locksmith page.
How do I pay?
We accept cash and all major debit and credit cards. Payment is due on completion of work. For commercial accounts, invoices are payable within 14 days.
