uPVC door playing up? Multipoint specialists, same day.
Lift-handle won't lift, key won't turn, door won't close? We carry every common multipoint mechanism — Yale, Mila, Avocet, GU, ERA — and fit on the spot.

UPVC door locks fail in predictable ways. Here’s what’s actually wrong with yours.
UPVC multipoint door systems are more complex than a single cylinder lock — they have a central gearbox, shoot bolts, hooks, rollers and a cylinder, all working together. When something goes wrong, the symptoms vary a lot: the handle drops and won’t lift, the door won’t lock from the outside, it locks but won’t open again, or the key turns but nothing engages. Each symptom points to a different fault.
The most common failure is the gearbox. These are plastic-and-metal mechanisms that see thousands of cycles over their lifespan, and eventually they wear out. The good news is that the gearbox is usually replaceable without touching the cylinder or the door frame — we carry Maco, Fuhr, Yale, ERA and Fullex gearboxes as van stock and can swap most in 45-90 minutes.
The second most common issue is a misaligned or dropped door. A UPVC door that’s sagged on its hinges won’t engage its keep correctly, which puts enormous strain on the mechanism and eventually kills the gearbox. If we see this, we’ll also adjust the hinges and door alignment — fixing just the gearbox on a misaligned door is a temporary fix at best.
Cylinders are the third common issue. Standard euro cylinders on UPVC doors are vulnerable to snapping — a known attack method. If yours is more than a few years old and isn’t TS007 rated, an upgrade makes sense at the same time as any other repair.
